Introduction To Meisner Technique Workshop in English

Action rooted in emotional freedom with a focus on the doing gives meaning to the text and is ultimately when emotional intimacy with an audience can be discovered. Meisner technique proves itself a solid foundation; organic and instinctual, a technique, I’ve used since 1993 on stage and in teaching.

The focus of the eight sessions is to introduce the process through a series of exercises that eventually settle into layers of information in one’s unconscious. Repetition, The Door and Activity will be covered as well as various relaxation exercises in a safe and comfortable environment. The course is open to anyone regardless of prior training who wishes to become an authentic


Svetlana Jovanovic, originally from New York and currently living in Berlin, studied Meisner Technique in a two-year intensive program at Gately-Poole Acting Studios in New York City from 1990-1992 and again in 2004 as part of her B.A. Degree in Experimental Performance at EPI, New College of California. Her background ranges from professional Musical Theatre as
Actress-Singer-Dancer in the U.S.A., Europe & Japan in numerous stage productions to writing, producing and performing her own works. Original works have been performed in Literature & Music Festivals in the Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, San Francisco, and at the Literariches Colloquim Berlin, the Internationale Literatur Festival Berlin, the Berliner Sommerfest Der Literatur, TV Arte and numerous international Poetry Slams placing in the top five at the German Int’l Poetry Slam Championships representing SpokenwordBerlin.

She’s taught Drama, English and Performance incorporating Meisner technique since 2004 and will be performing in Play2c’s production of Edward Albee’s play “The Goat” at English Theatre Berlin in fall 2009.
